The Dampproofing and Waterproofing Association of South Africa Dampproofers, Waterproofers, Contractors & Allied Trade and other specialists
• To protect and further the common interests of contractors.
• To do inspections and reports detailing the work to be done and referring jobs to members
• To provide a mechanism for complaints against members to be dealt with fairly and impartially by mediation or arbitration without resorting to litigation.
• To provide an advisory service and a distribution centre of information on new products and technology.
• To provide a help service to new contractors.
• To advisee members on tenders and quotations out for pricing,
• To regularise quotation procedures by having proper opening of tenders and assisting in adjudication and award of contracts.
• To regularise the receipt of quotations so that fair tender procedures are adhered to.
• To advise members of contracts under negotiation.
• To try and prevent clients getting a quotation not awarding the tender and shopping around for better prices, or passing, technical details on to other contractors in order to better the prices.
Members will be advised of new technology and information which becomes available.
• To ensure the highest standard of workmanship and material is maintained so that comebacks are minimised and a general feeling of confidence in members is generated in the minds of clients.
Manufacturers and Suppliers
• To protect the common interests of manufacturers and suppliers to ensure they do not receive unfair blame, adverse publicity, or loss of sales due to misuse of their products.
• To thoroughly investigate complaints to ensure responsibility is correctly apportioned and to assist in a speedy and cost effective solution of problems.
• To act as a distribution centre for information or new products the manufacturers wish to bring to the notice of the industry.
• To arrange training for members at manufacturers and suppliers premises in order to ensure correct usage and increased customer satisfaction.
Clients
• To act in the interests of clients by advising them of the names of recommended members of the Association with whom they are assured satisfaction will be obtained.
• To assist in preparing details for quotations so that tenderers quote on the same basis.
• To evaluate quotations received by clients to ensure that a true comparison is reached, and if necessary to advise why price differences are received due to necessary items not being included.
• To assist clients in accessing the best solution to their requirements and ensuring the prices received are comprehensive, fair and market-related.
• To assist clients in obtaining redress of their complaints from a contractor whose service is not considered to their satisfaction.
• To ensure contractors honour their guarantee.
Specifiying Authorities and Architects
• To assist in the preparation of specifications to ensure the best and correct application is obtained.
For The Industry generally
• To establish high standards so as to build up a reputation for good service and reliability.
• To make The Dampproofing Association known to end users so as to ensure a flow of work for members and satisfied customers
• To assist members in getting payment for work done.
• To settle disputes by mediation or arbitration
Endorsement of Tenders
• It is recommended that tenders and quotations be endorsed.
• In the event of a dispute arising which cannot be resolved by agreement of the parties, such matter shall be submitted to the President of The Dampproofing & Waterproofing Association of S.A., who is a member of The Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa and on their Panel of Arbiters, for resolution by mediation or arbitration.
• Any complaints should be referred to the President of The Dampproofing & Waterproofing Association of S A.
